At Work of Worth,we believe in connecting ethically driven,purpose-led businesses with global customers who care about the impact behind every purchase. Papillon embodies this mission beautifully.
Who Is Papillon?
Based in Port-au-Prince,Haiti, Papillon Marketplace exists to create sustainable jobs for local artisans, especially mothers and fathers who are fighting to keep their families together. Their motto,“Orphan Prevention Through Job Creation,” says it all.
Papillon trains and employs hundreds of men and women, giving them the opportunity to earn a living wage through handcrafted jewelry, ceramics, textiles, and home décor, all made with love, creativity, and purpose.
What Is a Poverty Orphan?
In Haiti, poverty , not abandonment , is often the reason children end up in orphanages. Known as “poverty orphans,” these children are separated from their families simply because their parents cannot afford to provide for them.
To put it in perspective,Haiti , a country roughly the size of Maryland, has more orphanages than Maryland has McDonald’s. Many of these children have parents who love them deeply, but without job opportunities, those parents face heartbreaking choices.
Papillon’s mission addresses this directly. By creating ethical employment and providing stable income,Papillon helps keep families together , reducing the need for orphan care and building stronger, more resilient communities.

Each Papillon product tells a story of resilience and hope. From hand-rolled clay beads to recycled paper jewelry, every piece is a testament to the strength and creativity of Haitian artisans.
